Responsibilities As aDirector ofSoftware Developmentyou will own and manage a team of software engineers responsible for thesoftware architecture and development for major components of Oracles Cloud Infrastructure. You should be comfortable with low level operating systems development, be able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and higher level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
- Build the state-of-the-art IaaS network starting from the ground floor
- Provide leadership, direction and strategy
- Establish and develop an organization to meet and execute on strategy
- Work with geographically distributed teams and contribute to the success of related teams
- Deliver large scale project on-time with the high quality
- 7+ years of management experience in enterprise software
- 7+ years of experience with applications development with 2+ years in large scale distributed applications / web services
- Proficient at programming in Java, Python and strong knowledge of C, C++
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals
- Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures
- Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- Bachelors in computer science and Engineering or related engineering fields
- 15+ years of experience
- Prior development experience with Network configuration management, skills with perl and ruby a plus
- Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus
- Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

As a Senior Director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to current and future design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision improvements to the architecture.
Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers Interacts internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
