Duties: Responsible for application development and for design, implementation and testing of a highly scalable data platform. Work with business to define requirements and provide development support to production and assist in critical production issues. Troubleshoot, diagnose and analyze issues to uncover root malfunctions. Develop requirements with business stakeholders and prepare detailed technical documents. Code, conduct peer reviews and provide feedback for robust and stable implementation. Provide solutions for complex business scenarios. Assist business users in developing workarounds to software issues. Troubleshoot, analyze and provide root cause analysis by debugging the application as needed. Mentor junior engineers.
Minimum education and experience required: This position requires aBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study plus five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer, System Engineer, Consultant, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires five (5) years of experience with the following: defining and enforcing design and development standards; and Java. This position requires four (4) years of experience with the following: Agile development. This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: working in multi-time zone development team; Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) distributed architecture; building high volume systems with real-time performance and read and write capabilities; and enterprise messaging systems, including message queues, pub and sub. This position requires two (2) years of experience with the following: developing with Big Data tech stack including Hadoop, Cloudera, Hortonworks, HBase, Phoenix, Kafka, AMPS, MQ, and Spark; real-time, event-driven systems and service-oriented architectures; Prime Brokerage, Custody & Fund Services business; MapReduce, Massively Parallel Processing (MPP), and HDFS job scheduling; and Java coding as part of the Hadoop, HBase and Phoenix build-out.
