Duties: Design and develop Big Data pipelines in alignment with business objectives. Build, extract, transform, and load jobs. Write queries in SQL engines for ad hoc and scheduled data analysis in order to meet business requirements. Develop programs to apply business rules on data. Automate code migration to higher environments. Create visualizations and reports for the business intelligence team. Conduct performance tuning to improve data processing and retrieval.
Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years of experience as a Software/Application Developer, IT Consultant, Programmer Analyst, or related role. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience in lieu of a Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience.
Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following skills and technologies: Apache Hadoop; Hive; Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS); Sqoop; Unix Shell Scripts; Apache Maven; agile methodology; release management processes; production release lifecycle; supporting a production-level Hadoop cluster; Unix platforms; middle-tier and backend systems development in Java and Linux; designing and implementing petabyte-scale systems; Hadoop Enterprise Java development; NoSQL data platforms such as Cassandra; Pub and sub messaging using Rendezvous, AMPS, and Kafka; stream processing using Hbase, Storm, Nifi, and Spark Streaming; performing batch processing concurrently with visualization in Tableau; and deploying and managing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
